Week 18-20 in Finland

So these weeks have been very interesting ones indeed. It’s the start of a new year, many of the past semester’s students are gone now, but I’ve already started to meet some new cool people. I also have new courses, one in GPU programming and one in data analytics software. I’m also attending a course in Finnish so hopefully, I’ll be able to do some small talk in Finnish before finishing my studies. For me, these first weeks have been fun but at the same time, it’s been filled with a rollercoaster of feelings. It’s starting to stabilize now and…

7th week in Finland

This week has mostly been about studying and getting better from some kind of a cough that I’ve managed to get. There are deadlines on big projects coming up and I’ve so far been tirelessly been working to get it all done. So far I think I’ve been doing good but there’s still stuff left to do even for week 8, so not until after the projects have been finalized much will happen. The only exception this week has been the Finland sitz which was really great. There was a lot of singing and talking and games and drinking and…

6th week in Finland

It’s now the 6th week in Finland and suddenly I can really feel that the autumn has come. It’s beginning to get colder in general, the leaves have shifted color and started to fall, and everyone seems to be increasingly more busy with university assignments and exam preparations. During this week the tempo has in many ways felt like it’s slowing down just a bit. I’ve been mostly at work with different studies but have also been able to pay for a Finnish sitz, discussed details about the thesis work in Jokojo and been to a Fantasy sitz at NylĂ€ndska…

4th and 5th week in Finland

So now it’s been aproximately two weeks since my last blog post. This is due to a lot of stuff happening and that when I finally found time to write last week I decided that it was a little too far into the week. Therefore you now get this two-week special issue blog post instead! 🙂 During the 4th week in Finland, I went to the rector’s dinner. It was quite nice and there were both speakers holding speeches and a lot of good food and wine. There was also a moment of thanking our tutors for their great work…

Now living in Finland!

Okay so maybe I’ve been living here for one week already, but it has been so much going on so that I’ve not really had the time to sit down and write about the days until now. My first week here has summarily consisted of traveling here, going to a lot of daytime activities where different parts of the university have been explored and seminars been held. On the evenings there has been a lot of activities, either ice-breaker where I’ve met a lot of interesting people or games or pub rounds or parties. So far I’m having a really…

Erasmus+ application finally completed and I’m one step closer to Finland!

So now the Erasmus+ application have been completed and sent in, now we’ll just have to see if there will be any complementary attachments to send in later. The Erasmus+ application is an application which will allow me to get a further grant for the studies abroad in Finland. It’s also a good opportunity to meet other people both in VĂ€sterĂ„s and abroad that is taking a year in another country. I think that by meeting people in the same position as you, the understanding and feel of the community can increase. So what is Erasmus+? It’s a European program…
